8fatfat8.... it's 15 years on now,
Deep beats... Old Technology.....
No
Computers.... Just SCSI ports, Zip Discs, Midi & drum machine sequencing....
When we play live... shit breaks all the time.
I had to learn
to improvise and get by on the fly when things went wrong.
Using this
old gear is like riding a horse bare back.
I liked the basic dj
model of 2 turntables and a mixer,
and so I used the 2 MPC samplers
like turn tables,
And split the midi out to a small rack of synths.
The House Heads Appreciate it cause they all know sequencing & the MPC
and what it is capable of, and how much work it takes.
I always feel like I'm taking the studio to the club, It takes a lot of work,
but I know it's appreciated... because It's live.
To see people dancing is the reward.
This is my set up:
2 AKAI mpc 3000's
into a Pioneer 500 Mixer
then 2 Midi merger boxes send signal to
1 EMU Orbit
1 WALDORF Wave Module
1
Ensoniq 16 plus
1 Roland XV5080
And finally I mix it through a
basic 8 channel mixer to the sound system...
