(You are listening to "Outta yer head" by PDP from the album  '7')

Frank Orrall & (blood brother) Arnie Saiki
on the road in the American west.
This is from a month long free form road trip
in our beautiful Chrysler 'New Yorker' in 1990 / 91.

A-and-F-road-trip.jpg

We hung the c.d. player from the rear view
mirror with rubber bands to keep it from skipping;
Acid jazz, Marvin Gaye, Massive Attack, Pharoah Sanders... too many to list.
We drove with an open heart away from
our daily life's insistence, (and me from my dissolving
marriage in Austin) into the unknown of the
forgiving open road of the American west. Deciding our
path as we went; free... finding the dessert
of new beginnings and, eventually, the grand canyon,
painted dessert, northern thunder sky's (and coffee) along the way.

Every pdp song is loaded with time stuffed in a envelope.
But, the song "Outta yer head" came from this trip in
a way. It's a third person song, w/ me talking to
myself, convincing me to live in the moment.
The 3rd verse especially speaks to this time...
(the 'ole slant 6' was a reference to the old pdp
mustang...) but, this verse (and song) is for this trip,
our car (the New Yorker) and my Brother Arnie.
